This project consisted of installation of a detour and temporary portable bridge to carry traffic across Baptiste Creek for the duration of the construction project. The existing six span pre-cast concrete super structure on a steel substructure was demolished and construction commenced on the 47.0 metre single span steel girder bridge with cast in-place concrete deck and abutments.
This site was environmentally sensitive due to its close proximity to Baptiste Lake. The site was regularly monitored by Federal and Provincial Authorities to ensure all environmental constraints were being met.
Alberta Transportation was very pleased with the workmanship and the delivery of the project and the ease with which the contract was carried out.
The project from award (March 26, 2008) to completion (November, 2008) took approximately 7 months to complete.
