Canadian Natural Resources Limited is involved in the extraction of oil sands reserves utilizing both open pit mining and in-situ techniques. The Project is located 70 kilometers north of Fort McMurray, where Canadian Natural owns and operates leases covering 115,000 acres with an estimated 16 billion barrels of bitumen in place. The Horizon Oil Sands Project will utilize the open pit mining strategy which consist of mobile equipment and bitumen extraction facilities to mine and separate the raw bitumen from the oil sands.
Carmacks Enterprise Ltd was awarded the contract for Civil site work and installation of underground utilities for the new Water & Wastewater Treatment Plant, under the project management of Zenon Environmental. The scope of work included site grading, excavation and installation of High density Polyethylene Piping (HDPE) for potable water and also the installation of natural gas piping.
